The Qur’an was sent to be lived and within Surat al-Baqarah lie some of the most practical, life-guiding verses in the entire Qur’an - the Ayaat al-Aḥkam - the verses of commands.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانَ يَهْدِى لِلَّتِى هِىَ أَقْوَمُ
“Surely this Quran guides to whatever is most upright..”

This 7-week course continues our journey into the Ayat al Ahkam - the verses of rulings, commands, and divine guidance found in Surat al-Baqarah.
In Part 2, we explore another powerful set of Ayāt that cover some of the most practical and essential areas of life, including:
- Divorce, ʿiddah, khulʿ & remarriage
- Breastfeeding, guardianship & financial responsibility
- Guarding the prayer (ṣalāh), even in times of fear or difficulty
- Rulings on riba (interest)
- Contracts, debts & financial ethics

About the Shaykha
After embracing Islam as a teenager, she devoted more than 25 years to knowledge, earning a Master's in Fiqh, a Bachelor’s degree in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh, and a second Bachelor's in Arabic, besides having studied numerous traditional texts from specialised scholars for decades.
She also memorized the Qur'an and received an Ijazah in its correct recitation according to Hafs An Asim.
She is from the first female scholars to be recognised by the Australian National Imams Council, and in 2021 played a pivotal role in securing the recognition of qualified women as official members.
Beloved and renowned in her community in Sydney, Australia, for her relatable approach, she understands the challenges Muslim women face while carrying the unending responsibilities of home and family.
